The hand of Clarks

Clarks have a remarkable heritage in footwear, dating back to the company's origins in 1825, and an unrivalled archive to support this. ‘The Hand of Clarks’ project harnesses this rich historic seam and defines all of Clarks’ iconic product signatures.

Working closely with Clarks’ design and archive team, we defined the company’s key signature details. These included the break with tradition, when they championed ergonomic toe shapes, and their radical refinement in manufacturing techniques to improve fit, comfort and cost, resulting in the iconic Polyveldt. And also their distinguished and dynamic soles, ranging from crepe through the 21st century Trigenic.

The spirit guide is used as a tool for all product design teams to ensure a consistent use of the key signatures across all products being designed in the UK and US.
