Port East Apartments

KMK Architects commissioned Bibliothèque to create a wayfinding system for this residential building in Canary Wharf.

The building features one of the first known uses of cast-iron window grilles, creating a distinct grid which informed letters and numerals to create a bold language for signage which increased in detail with scale of application.

The custom designed letterforms were supported by Caslon’s Egyptian, one of the first English Sans typefaces, created during the same industrial period as the building.
